As a blogger or business owner, website traffic is very important to you in the following ways :
  • More traffic = more leads, increase in conversion and more customers.
  • More traffic improves your SEO and search engine credibility. (websites with high traffic rank more than those without)
  • A sign that your marketing labour is paying off.

All Traffic sources are not the same.

When it comes to web traffic, only high quality targeted traffic matters.
What is targeted traffic?
Targeted traffic is to websites what qualified sales leads are to salespeople. These are people who deliberately visit a site through a link that determines a visitor’s needs before they click.

Targeted Traffic consists of preselected visitors arriving at a website who have already expressed an interest in the site’s subject. The opposite would be a visitor randomly or accidentally arriving at a site basically looking for something else.

This is why using bots to generate traffic or any other Black-Hat traffic trick is a total waste of time.

You’ll see how to capture real targeted website traffic.

How to increase website Traffic?

If you read through this entire post you’ll learn 10 ways to drive traffic to your website. This includes Free and Paid options.

1. Online advertising.

Online advertising is the most basic way to get people to visit your website. Paid Search, Social Media advertising and display advertising are all excellent ways of attracting visitors.

Each platform has its Pros and cons. Professional firms looking to advertise for a B2B and reach decision makers will find Linkedin ads to be the most effective. LinkedIn accounts for more than 60 per cent of all traffic from social media channels to company websites.

If you run a beauty blog or any other catchy firm, Instagram ads will produce the best results for you. You’ll also notice Facebook has a similar ads targeting as Instagram.

The deal is to experiment with different social media with a low budget and see how things turn out before investing more money to it.

2. Optimize your title tags and meta description.

Choosing the right headline ( title tags) and meta description for your website should be a very thorough process. The idea is to capture the attention of whoever sees your article on search engines and social media and to get them to click on your website.

A very effective trick is making use of Power words.

Power words are words that smart copywriters use to trigger a psychological or emotional response. They’re called “power words” because they are so persuasive that people simply can’t resist being influenced by them!

3. Start Guest Blogging.

Guest blogging on a reputable website with a decent Domain Authority can help boost traffic to your website. Find blogs in your niche that allow guest blogging, Find some of the topics on the website that their audience love ( Which topics have the highest shares, comments etc), create similar articles with a link back to your own website. Be sure to give the audience good value, who knows, you might become their favourite author.

4. Invite others to guest blog on your site.

Having others guest blog on your website can increase your traffic to as the authors will very likely share the article with their own audience. They might have a larger Social media reach than you do. Just be careful to proofread before accepting the guest’s post. Google penalizes low-quality spammy blog posts.

5. Create Great Content.

Providing an in-depth analysis/story about a certain topic makes your content comprehensive, detailed and worthy of being shared and linked to.

Do a consumer research. Identify the trending topics/issues in your industry. Look for a highly searchable keyword, type it in the Google search bar and identify what’s missing out in every post on the search results. Create better content (more than the common how-to articles) by delivering your message with useful tips/ advice, examples (perhaps a case study), etc

6. Utilize Internal Linking.

In layman’s terms, an internal link is one that points to another page on the same website. This not only helps with SEO, but it also improves User Experience. Internal linking also increases your link profile (once upon a time, we thought only Backlinks from other websites has this ability.)

7. Improve your website’s Speed.

No one waits for a slow loading website ( Unless it’s theirs) If your website loads longer than 3 seconds you have to speed it up ASAP. Make sure your pages are as optimised as possible. Your web host server response time? Very underrated but important, Your theme? Gzip your web files, Optimise your images, Apply browser caching.

8. Haunt Comment Sections.

You probably visit at least a few sites that are relevant to your business on a regular basis, why not join the conversation. This can help you build a name for yourself. Answer questions with relevant links back to your website, ask questions. I’ve been doing this on Quora and many other websites.

9. Post to Social Media with Hashtags.

Hashtags (#) are very important for every networking app. With hashtags, you can reach people who are interested in your niche or a particular trend without them even following you.

Hook onto trending common Hashtags in your field e.g Digital Marketing or you can make use of a more specific Hashtag like SEO or even narrow it down more for better click-throughs e.g Anchor texts. Each way you choose be sure to monitor the outcomes and either keep doing that if it works, or choose another one if it does not.

10. Hire Someone like ME!
Fulltime digital marketers have the sauce. The market is dynamic, what works today might not work in a few days time. That’s why every firm has to hire a dedicated digital marketer to handle this very crucial role. If you need my services you can reach me on Messanger or Send me a Mail
