Blog Marketing: 7 Strategies You Can Use

Have you just published a blog and are thinking about how to market it? Then you have landed on the right article. There are several ways to market a blog, but in this article we will go through 7 strategies that you can use to succeed.

The following strategies work no matter what industry you operate in, and what niche you have. You will be able to implement these regardless. Do not forget to also evaluate the strategies, to see what worked better and what worked worse.

Then we start!

  1. Market your blog with social media ads
  2. Market to your current readers
  3. Create content that is worth sharing
  4. Get traffic from Google
  5. Contact relevant people
  6. Be active in relevant forums and groups
  7. Reuse content for different channels

1. Market your blog with social media ads

Promoting your blog and articles via social media can be an effective method. Think when you have written a really good article, which probably took several hours, of course you want someone to read it then?

The important thing to remember when it comes to advertising on social media, is to A / B test. Create basically the same ads, with a few factors that differentiate them and market them. Especially when it comes to your target audience, be sure to test your ads with various factors, such as interests or industries.

2. Market to your current readers

Do not forget your target audience that already exists! The target group that both follows you on social media, and who has signed up for your email list. Many of those who already follow you or your brand, will be happy to share your article and market your blog.

Also, there are certainly many who have not seen all of your blog posts. Promote the blog by sending an automatic email to those who sign up for your email list. This way, you can share, for example, the most popular articles on your website and get even more traffic.

3. Create content that is worth sharing

It takes us to the next point, to create content that people actually want to share. This is not quite simple, it needs to be articles that are unique, provide value and are so good that someone takes the time to share it further. It can be on social media, forums or a forwarding of your email for example.

This strategy also has great benefits for SEO. If your article is worth sharing, other bloggers or sites will also use content contained in your text. Thus (hopefully) also link to it!

4. Get traffic from Google

Marketing your blog by getting more traffic from Google certainly sounds like a no-brainer, but how do you do it? There are a few different ways. First, work with SEO. Search engine optimization is always about your articles so that they can rank well in the search results.

Another tip is to also write evergreen content, ie content that works just as well tomorrow as in a few years. You do not have to do this on all articles, but in any case the blog posts that you want to rank well on.

5. Contact relevant people

In digital marketing, we call this outreach. But it’s not just about emailing anything, to anyone. When working with outreach, you always need to have a question in mind:

Why should this person care about what I say?

Remember to only email (or contact via social media) the people you actually think will be interested in your article. It could be either because you have conducted your own survey or because it is so unique that you do not think this person has read it before.

Also be personal, include why you are emailing that particular person. Also mention the company by name or any article that the person has written in the same area.

6. Be active in relevant forums and groups

Various forums and groups are a great platform for marketing your blog. However, you can not just post your blog or article, usually groups and forums do not allow you to market yourself (unless the group is actually about it).

But you can help people. Maybe some questions for an article in the field that you have on your blog? Or maybe someone is looking for an answer to a question that is answered in your article.

Investigate if there are forums in your industry or area. Do the same for Facebook groups.

7. Reuse content for different channels

The last strategy for marketing your blog is to reuse the content for different channels. Turn your article into a YouTube video. Or create a free pdf guide of it! If lots of visitors do not appear on your blog immediately, it does nothing, some of them are simply on other platforms!
